Crossroad of Life Community Church
Church Staff
Raymond Winfrey - Pastor - [Account] -

I was born and raised up in Somerville, TN.  I attended Pullman Chapel Baptist church where I confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. In 1956 I graduated from the Fayette County Training School in May of 1956. A few months later I moved to the Champaign- Urbana area.

Eager to get away from home, I strayed away from the church for a number years.  I was blessed to gain employment with the City of Champaign Public Works Department. I worked my way through the ranks to become Supervisor of the Sewer Department. In 1979 The Lord led me to the "crossroad of (my) life" - a time of decision making. I had to make a choice, to live for God and have an abundant life or choose the way of the world laced with trials and tribulations. To choose His way I would inherit eternal life, to choose the world, I would loose everything including wife, family, job, home and my life. On that day, I chose life and not death.

I united with a church and renewed my walk with the Lord. Soon I was deeply involved in the church. I began my journey at Morning Star Free Will Baptist church where Rev. Henry Emery was the Pastor. In 1982 there was a split in the church - Rev. Emery choose to move on.  A month later Jericho Missionary Baptist church was organized. I was one of the first deacons of the church.

In 1984 I accepted my call into the ministry. March of the same year, I preached my trial sermon. Later on, the Lord gave me a vision for my life. I was to organize a New Testament Church - my mission was to reach out to the unchurched, those turned away by other churches, the unwanted. Many said that I would not make it by not having any experience at organizing a church I was doomed to fail.
In June 1993 Crossroad was organized with 6 members. Over the years many has come and gone, but by the grace of God we’re still moving forward in him.

Today Crossroad of Life Community Church is located in Rantoul, IL at 310 Borman. We're in the process of purchasing the old base chapel which will seat about 350 people. God is providing our every need according to "His riches in glory".

Pray for us that we may be more determine to press on.
